Illustration Friday - Dance

dance_nolde background

I found a beautiful graphic magazine cover that used combination of stylistic printed pattern and cut out part which show the colour of the page below it (forgive my jumbled description, I don't know exactly how it's called, I hope my picture shows what I meant). Anyway, I knew right away that this is what I want to make for illustration friday this week. So I simply drew the figure, drew pattern on its gown, cut out the area of the pattern. Now I can put it above any colored surface and I would have dancing girl with different colored gown. I have to say it's really practical :P In this case dancing girl has a gown from a print of Emil Nolde's painting (above) and a shopping bag (below). Please tell me which version you like better. I think my next project would be another cut out pattern with the opposite area being taken away so the pattern lines are the one that left on the paper.

Illustration Friday - Jungle of Depression

Jungle of Depression

I'm pretty much in the bottom of the bottom these days... I suppose it is like in the jungle, dark and surrounding and reaching out to you... the difference is that instead of leaves, this jungle is filled with words and thoughts

You Are Sunrise

You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life. You enjoy living every moment, no matter how ordinary.
You are a person of reflection and meditation. You start and end every day by looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy making people happy. You're often cooking for friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life for what it is - not for how it should be.

Illustration Friday - under the sea

My first picture for Illustration Friday, using watercolour and pencil color lines. I have to say that it didn't exactly meet my expectation. I wanted to have transparent effect on the water and the fishes.. Is it possible to create it without computer?
